Party/Special Occasion Ideas

Source:  Paula, GFCFRecipes, with added tips from Miss Roben’s

Help refocus your kids off their food limitations:

*Make gelatin food jigglers.  Let kids cut out letters/shapes with cookie cutters; older kids can team up & create words.

*Using safe paper mache (see recipe index), create a piñata filled with acceptable toys.

*Fill a baby pool with water & sand.  Set up sprinklers & have guests come in bathing suits, with sunscreen & sunglasses.  Pass out acceptable beach toys & have frozen lemonade with cool straws the kids can use & take home.

*Provide old clothes, hats, acceptable trinkets, costume jewelry, ribbon, paper, glue, magic markers, etc & let kids create costumes.  Or have a contest to see who can create the scariest or funniest face using edible face paint (see recipe index).  Take a Polaroid® picture of them modeling their costume or face to take home.

*Have a Hula Hoop contest to see who can Hula the longest.

*Create a band with musical instruments out of empty plastic, paper, or tin containers kids make & decorate themselves.  Containers with lots of ridges & pie plates work great. Use large plastic serving spoons for drumsticks.  For added effect, fill with small pebbles, sand & glitter (glue top securely on before letting child have).
