"Firecracker" Cherry Salsa

Sweet and zesty! This salsa makes a great appetizer while your treats are grilling! Live on the edge; add a chopped hot pepper to the mix.

2 cups sweet cherries pitted and chopped

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper

1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

2 Tbsp lemon juice

1 Tbsp sugar, optional

1/2 tsp grated lemon peel

1/4 tsp salt

Mix all ingredients until well blended.  Refrigerate at least 1 hour to blend flavors.  Serve with red, white and blue corn chips.
