Gum Source: Shawndra,
GFCF Kids Most kids like stickers
but the glue is often from wheat, a common allergen or intolerance. Make your
own with this easy to spread, tasteless glue that dries thin and clear. Spread
glue on the back of pictures cut out of magazines, color books or pictures printed off the computer. 1 packet (1/ 4 ounce) unflavored
gelatin or agar 1 Tbsp cold water 3 Tbsp boiling water 1/ 2 tsp white corn syrup
or cane syrup or vegetable glycerin 1/ 2 tsp lemon extract In a small bowl, sprinkle
gelatin into cold water. Put aside until softened. Pour softened gelatin into water and stir until completely dissolved.
Add syrup and lemon extract. Mix well. Makes 4 ounces. Brush gum thinly onto the back of a picture. When dry, moisten
the picture glue and apply it to paper.
Gum will gel overnight; to return it to a liquid state, warm container of gum in a pan of hot water. If stored in a tight jar it will keep several months. |
